Toll Roads

Melbourne's toll roads are currently split into two networks. If you are coming from the airport then you will most likely find yourself on the Tullamarine Freeway. This is operated by City Link. Day passes for this road can be purchased by calling city link or by visiting their website. The other toll road network operates from the Eastern Suburbs down to the bayside suburb of Frankston and is operated by connect east. Note that you will need purchase seperate day passes if you are planning to travel on each of these roads.

It is recommended that you purchase a day pass if you are renting a car, as the car rental company may charge you a hefty processing fee.

Short Trip Suggestions

If you are looking for places to drive for a day trip or a short break, there are many options not far from Melbourne. Take a scenic drive through the Dandenong Ranges and stop off at one of the many picnic areas such as the Fern Tree Gully Picnic Ground, One Tree Hill or take a walk through Sherbrooke Forest.
